Becoming an Iyengar yoga teacher

Do you want to become a certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher? At Griffins Hill, we provide an outstanding teacher-training programme.

Prerequisites

The essential prerequisite for training as a yoga teacher is a commitment to a regular and sustained yoga practice. We are only ready to think of teaching after we first develop a deep understanding of asana (postures) and pranayama (breathing) through a home practice and attending classes. Specifically, this means regularly practising Iyengar yoga for a minimum of the three years.

The Iyengar Approach to Teacher Training

Mentorship and training

Iyengar yoga practitioners train to become teachers through a mentorship with an accredited Iyengar teacher in a teacher-training programme. Griffins Hill Yoga Teacher Training follows the prescribed teacher-training methodology approved by Mr Iyengar and Iyengar Yoga Australia.

Time commitment

Our training and development program is conducted over two and a half years. During this time, you will attend 300 hours of yoga teacher-training with Frank Jesse, a teacher accredited by Iyengar Yoga Australia.

These are in the form of eight five-day workshops that immerse you in your practice. You must also attend 100 hours as a class assistant or an observer with Frank or with an accredited teacher of your choice.

Register your interest now in our next teacher/yoga training commencing February 2021 including three five - day intensive training retreats each year in February, June, and October. (Actual dates to be confirmed.).
