Iyengar yoga is based on the lifelong practice and study of Yogacharya BKS Iyengar. Its safe and systematic method guides individuals according to their capacity.
In Iyengar yoga the asanas (postures) and pranayama (breath control) are considered of utmost importance in the development of our yoga sadhana (path). They are not mere exercises to develop our physical body and lung capacity but are taught and practised with precision and awareness to develop every level of our being.
The use of props and correct alignment, sequences and timing distinguishes Iyengar yoga from other systems of yoga and makes it suitable for all levels of students.
Frank Jesse, the founder of the Clifton Hill Yoga Studio is the instructor at Griffins Hill. He has been teaching yoga for over 20 years and holds a Senior Intermediate Iyengar teaching certificate. Frank is one of only 16 Iyengar yoga teachers in Australia with Senior certificates. Frank is a talented teacher who can demonstrate his knowledge of yoga with a breathtakingly beautiful yoga practice. Frank regularly travels to India to study and improve his own Iyengar yoga skills and qualifications.
